Farragut JV Grabs Lead in Sixth Inning for Victory Over Maryville

Farragut JV took the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Maryville on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Farragut JV batting in the top of the sixth when Cooper Mashburn singled off of Will Myer, driving in two runs.

Maryville scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Farragut JV still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Maryville came thanks to a triple by Carter Harris and a groundout by Zane Duggan.

Farragut JV captured the lead in the first inning. Ryan Hagenow drove in one when he singled in the first inning.

Maryville evened things up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning. Duggan grounded out, scoring one run.

Tyler Petterson earned the win for Farragut JV. He pitched three and a third innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, striking out three, and walking zero. Caylon Scholem threw one and two-thirds innings, as two relievers helped Farragut JV finish off the victory. Keito Muto recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Farragut JV. Michael Jones took the loss for Maryville. He went three and a third innings, giving up three runs, nine hits, and striking out three.

Farragut JV collected 12 hits. Carter Gillette, Cooper Mashburn, Alex Au, and Hagenow each collected multiple hits for Farragut JV. Gabe Hensley, Hagenow, and Mashburn each drove in two runs to lead Farragut JV. Farragut JV was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Mashburn had the most chances in the field with eight.

Maryville had seven hits in the game. Harris and Cole Grubbs each collected multiple hits for Maryville. Harris went 3-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
