(3/20/14) Rockies catcher Michael McKenry has proved himself healthy in the spring while working on a minor-league contract, and the team has rewarded him with a spot on the 40-man roster Thursday.”With Mac, we considered him a guy that has been a Major League player,” Bill Geivett, the Rockies’ senior vice president of Major League operations, told MLB.com. “It was a little bit more his injury than anything else that he wasn’t on the roster.”

McKenry will compete for a backup catcher spot alongside Jordan Pacheco. McKenry, who is hitting .250 in 20 spring at-bats, might have a hard time breaking camp, however, as he still has a minor-league option remaining.
