Jefferson Co. slips by Admirals 6-2 in Sectional

The 2017 season came to a close for the Farragut Admirals on Friday, as the Jefferson Co. Patriots claimed a sectional win 6-2 in 9 innings, earning a spot in next week’s AAA State Tournament.  The Admirals still accomplished much this season, finishing 33-10, District 4AAA regular season champions, and Region 2AAA Champions.

After 9 straight trips to the State Tournament, the Admirals will now begin the quest to return to Murfreesboro in 2018!!

Farragut Admirals Varsity lost the lead late in a 6-2 defeat to Jefferson County on Friday. The game was tied at two with Jefferson County batting in the top of the ninth when Rogers doubled off of Brad Day, driving in one run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Farragut Admirals Varsity tied things up at two. With zero outs in the sixth inning Justen Freeman drove in two runs when he clobbered a mammoth homer over the left-center wall.

Farragut Admirals Varsity had six hits in the game.  Freeman and Carson Wright each collected multiple hits for Farragut Admirals Varsity.

Admirals Claim Region 2AAA Championship over Maryville, 1-0

The Farragut Admirals claimed the Region 2AAA championship, defeating Maryville 1-0 on Wednesday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Drew Patterson, Brad Day, and Collin Grove combined on the masterful shutout.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Farragut Admirals Varsity pitchers struck out six, while hurlers for Maryville sat down five.

Drew Patterson earned the win for Farragut Admirals Varsity. He threw four and a third innings, surrendering 0 runs, 5 hits, and striking out two. Two relievers helped Farragut Admirals Varsity close out the victory. Collin Grove threw two innings.  Grove recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Farragut.

Brad Grenkoski’s infield fielders choice scored the lone Admiral run. He went 1-for-3 on the day.  Farragut Admirals Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jake Grooms had the most chances in the field with eight.

With the victory, the Admirals return home on Friday evening to host the Region 1AAA runner-up, Jefferson Co.  The Patriots suffered a 7-1 loss to the Dobyns-Bennett Indians.  Friday’s game at the Ballpark at Farragut will be a 6:30 start, and will be broadcast on WUCPLP FM99.9, and streamed on WUCPLP.com.  Chris Low and Ralph Skinner will be on the call.

We need all hands on deck Friday to help the Admirals return to the Class AAA State Tournament in the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro!!  Bring your maracas!!  Bring your bells!! We need *EVERYONE* to be at the Ballpark at Farragut on Friday!!

Farragut 4-run 1st, Kovacs pitching lead to Region 2 Victory Over Karns, 7-3

The Admirals struck quickly on Monday, taking quick advantage in the Region 2 semifinal versus Karns.  Farragut scored on a bases-clearing triple by Zach Yunger in the first inning, followed by an RBI single by Cade Burkey, and a single by Jake Hagenow in the second inning.

Farragut Admirals Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Karns to score three runs in the fifth inning. Karns’s big inning was driven by a single by Hartless.

Owen Kovacs earned the win for Farragut Admirals Varsity. He threw 7 innings, giving up 3 runs, 8 hits, striking out 3, and walking one.  Culp took the loss for Karns. He went two innings, surrendering six runs, seven hits, striking out one, and walking one.

Farragut Admirals Varsity had 11 hits in the game.  Yunger, Cade Burkey, and Jake Hagenoweach collected multiple hits for Farragut Admirals Varsity.

The Admirals advance to take on the Maryville Rebels on Wednesday for the Region 2 championship.  That game will be played at Maryville at their field at Colter Grove Intermediate School.  Should the Admirals win on Wednesday, the Sectional game will be at the Ballpark at Farragut versus the Region runner-up (Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett or Jefferson County).  Wednesday’s and Friday’s games will be broadcast on WUCPLP FM99.9 and streamed via WUCPLP.com.

Admirals Fight Back in Loss to Maryville, 5-4

Farragut Admirals Varsity’s effort to come back from down four runs in the second inning came up just short, as they fell 5-4 to Maryville on Wednesday. Farragut Admirals Varsity scored four runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Zach Yunger in the fourth and a double by Jake Grooms in the sixth.

Maryville took an early lead in the first inning. Maryville scored one run on a stolen base in the first inning.
Farragut Admirals Varsity knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out in the sixth inning Jake Grooms drove in one run when he doubled.
Farragut Admirals Varsity scored three runs in the fourth inning. Farragut Admirals Varsity scored its runs on a home run by Zach Yunger.
Maryville scored three runs in the second inning. Maryville scored its runs on a home run by Riley Church.
Evan Porter earned the win for Maryville. He pitched seven innings, surrendering four runs, three hits, and striking out five. Grooms took the loss for Farragut Admirals Varsity. He went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run, one hit, and walking zero.
Brad Grenkoski started the game for Farragut Admirals Varsity. He pitched two innings, allowing four runs, four hits, and striking out one.
Home runs for Maryville came when Church homered in the second inning and Ruben Church homered in the seventh inning.
Grooms, Jake Hagenow, and Yunger all had one hit to lead Farragut Admirals Varsity.
Maryville had eight hits in the game. Will Orren and Church each collected multiple hits for Maryville.

UPDATED -Throwback Games, Friday, April 28 to Benefit Young-onset Parkinson’s Disease

Friday, April 28, is the date for the annual Throwback Games at the Ballpark at Farragut.  Admiral Baseball will host a triple-header, with proceeds going to benefit the KiMe Fund, working for a cure for Young-onset Parkinsons Disease.  This is tomorrow’s updated schedule:

Admirals Take Scott Dean Memorial Opener- Back-And-Forth Affair Against Mount Juliet

The Admirals and Mount Juliet traded the lead back-and-forth on Thursday, but eventually the Ads prevailed 10-9. Farragut was down 9-7 in the home half of the 7th when Carson Wright drilled a 2 run HR over the right field wall.

Farragut had built a six-run lead in the third inning and then held off Mount Juliet’s charge.

Farragut scored four runs in the third inning, on a double by Parker Noland, a walk by Ashton King, and a walk by Chandler Chambers.

Mount Juliet scored three runs in the fifth inning. Mount Juliet scored its runs on a double by Raines.

Brad Day earned the win for Farragut Admirals Varsity. He tossed two-thirds of an inning, giving up 1 run, 2 hits, striking out 1 and no walks.

Jake Grooms started the game. He threw three and a third innings, surrendering 3 runs, 4 hits, striking out 2, and no walks.

Farragut Admirals Varsity had 13 hits in the game.  Jake Hagenow, Carson Wright, Zach Yunger, and Justen Freeman each collected multiple hits for Farragut Admirals Varsity. Wright and Hagenow all had three hits to lead Farragut .

Noland’s 5 RBI Day Leads Farragut Past West, 15-5

Parker Noland drove in 5 runs on 2 hits to lead the Admirals past West 15-5 on Wednesday.  Noland drove in runs on a bases-clearing triple in the third and a single in the fifth.

Farragut (19-4, 9-1 D4AAA) took the lead for good with a 9-run third inning. Parker Noland tripled off of Adam Cupp, driving in three runs, Justen Freeman grounded out, scoring one run, Cade Burkey singled, driving in one run, Ashton King hit his first homer of the season, driving in two runs, and Carson Wright followed with a solo homer.

Collin Grove earned the win. He pitched 4 innings, surrendering 5 runs, 2 earned, 6 hits, striking out 3 and walking one.  Brad Day came in and pitched the 5th.

Farragut’s home runs  came when Jake Hagenow homered in the fourth inning, Wright homered in the third inning, and King homered in the third inning.

Farragut Admirals Varsity collected ten hits.  NolandKing, and Chandler Chambers each collected multiple hits for Farragut Admirals Varsity.

With the win, the Admirals take sole possession of the D4AAA lead, and hope to keep it rolling in the 4th Annual Scott Dean Memorial Tournament.  The Admirals host the Mt. Juliet Golden Bears at 6:00 on Thursday.

Fifth Inning Eruption Delivers Win Over Heritage, 8-1

A 5th-inning explosion of 5 runs led Farragut Admirals Varsity past Heritage 8-1 on Monday. The big Admiral inning was driven by singles by Ashton King and Carson Wright, Jake Hagenow’s double, and a double by Parker Noland.

After Heritage took an early 1-0 lead, the Admirals (18-4, 8-1 D4AAA) evened things up at one in the bottom of the third inning.  Zach Yunger homered to right center on the first pitch of the at bat in the third inning, hitting a laser by the scoreboard.

Farragut Admirals Varsity took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. Justen Freeman singled to left, and the ball was misplayed, allowing Parker Noland to score.

Owen Kovacs earned the win. He tossed 5 innings, allowing 1 run, 2 hits, and striking out three.  Landon Smiddy came on in relief, pitching the final 2 innings, giving up 2 hits, but no runs.

Farragut Admirals Varsity had nine hits in the game.  Noland, Yunger, and Wright each collected multiple hits.   Farragut Admirals Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The Admirals homestand continues on Wednesday, 6:30pm, with an important D4AAA game against the West Rebels.  Currently, the Admirals and Rebels are tied in the loss column, so this game will go a long way in determining the District regular-season winner.  The game will be broadcast on WUCPLP FM99.9 and WUCPLP.com with Chris Low and Ralph Skinner on the call.
