The Admirals hung on in a nail-biter, taking on a scrappy and resourceful Halls Red Devil team in Monday’s Region 2 semi-final at the Ballpark. The Ads prevailed 5-4, but it was not the same kind of game as the District tournament final.

Kyle Serrano pitched the Ads to the victory, secured by AJ Simcox’s save in the 7th inning. Kyle allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, 6 K, 2 BB. AJ retired the 3 batters he faced in the 7th.

The Ads scored 2 runs in the 3rd, taking the lead. After Jammer Strickland’s leadoff single, and Chase Chambers’ intentional walk, David Logan drove in the first Admiral run with a single up the middle. Nick Senzel, who was intentionally walked, scored on a wild pitch.

Halls tied it 2-2 on single runs in the 4th and 5th.

The Ads recovered the lead in the home half of the 5th, sending 7 to the plate, scoring 3. Nick Senzel’s 2-run blast to left-center was the big blow, followed by Brett Hagenow’s RBI double, scoring Chase Chambers. That proved to be the winning run.

Halls drew close on a 2-out , 2-run double by Ryan Galyon in the 6th. But the Devils would get no closer, as the final 4 Devil batters were retired.

The Ads will host the Bearden Bulldogs in the Region 2 Championship game at 6:30 Wednesday at the Ballpark. The game will be broadcast on WUCP-LP FM99.9 in the Farragut area, and WUCPLP.com on the internet. Both teams advance to Friday’s substate round, with the winner staying home versus the Region 1 runner-up.
