Admirals Take Dramatic Come-From-Behind Win Over Catholic on Armed Forces Night

The Admirals scored a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Catholic Fighting Irish on Armed Forces Night at the Ballpark on Wednesday night. David Logan was the hero of the evening, blasting a grand slam into Kingston Pike to pull the Ads off the deck to win 8-7.

Eric Freeman, Admiral starting pitcher, seemed in full control, with his team leading 3-0 in the 5th. But then things turned – and in a hurry. With 2 outs, the Irish’s Austin Kearney sent one over the left field wall to get the ball rolling. Subsequent consecutive singles and an untimely error extended the inning. When the final out was recorded, Catholic held a 7-3 lead.

AJ Simcox came to the mound in the 6th, in relief of Jordan Newby. Jammer Strickland gunned down a potential insurance run with a perfect throw to the plate on a single up the middle, as Catholic’s Breazeale was trying to score on Reed’s single.

Alex Schuettler gave the Ads hope in the home half of the 6th, leading off by HBP. Jammer forced Alex at 2nd, on a fielder’s choice, AJ and Nick singled, driving in one run. After Chase Chambers loaded the bases on a HBP, David Logan lofted one into the night sky, with his first career grand slam.

Tomorrow night is Turn Back the Clock Night at the Ballpark, with a double-header: Bearden will play Oak Ridge at 5:30, followed by the Ads versus Karns. This is the 3rd annual National Parkinson’s Foundation benefit sponsored the Dugout Club. Admission is a donation to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

One final note: The Ads are District 3AAA Champs again!!
