Farragut defeated Hardin Valley Academy 9-5 in a back-and-forth affair in the Admirals home opener on Wednesday. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the fifth when Cade Burkey singled off of Nathan Johnson, driving in two runs.

Farragut (8-1; 2-1 D4AAA) earned the victory despite allowing HVA’s 3 runs in the fourth inning. Hardin Valley Academy’s big inning was driven by a walk by Dawson Byard and a single by Drew Parks.

Owen Kovacs earned the win for the Admirals. He tossed the 3 final innings, allowing 1 run, 4 hits, and striking out five.

Zach Joyce started the game for Farragut. He tossed 3.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on no hits, and striking out six.  Brad Day came on in relief in the 4th inning.

Home runs for Farragut Admirals Varsity came when Parker Noland homered in the first inning and Jake Hagenow homered in the third inning.

Farragut Admirals Varsity had seven hits in the game.  Zach Yunger and Cade Burkey each collected multiple hits for Farragut Admirals Varsity.

The Admirals continue with their homestand with a Friday game versus the Pigeon Forge Tigers.  After a Monday game at Maryville, the Admirals will host Bearden on Wednesday.
