Farragut Admirals Varsity jumped on Maryville early on its way to a 5-3 win on Thursday at Farragut in seven innings, scoring three runs in the first inning. After Sam Schultz led off with a single, followed by a walk, Chase Chambers drove in 2 runs with a solid triple to center. Duncan Pence drove in Chase with a sac fly.

Maryville scored on an RBI single by Martin in the second inning, a solo home run by Shinsky in the third inning, and a groundout by Curtis in the fifth inning. Despite its efforts, Maryville couldn’t finish the comeback.

Eric Lessig got the win for Farragut Admirals Varsity. He allowed two runs over three innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered five hits. Eric was backed by Ben Rutter’s 4 strong innings, allowing only 1 run.

The Admirals matched Maryville’s strong inning with a two-run inning of its own in the third, scoring on an RBI double by Chase Chambers and an RBI single by Nico Mascia.

The Admirals now stand 2-1 on the 2014 season, and move on to a good Spring Break trip to Panama City, Florida to play some of the Florida Panhandle teams. Enjoy the great Florida weather!!
