Roy  Mutta had two extra base hits, but Farragut Admirals Varsity still fell to Riverdale 6-5 in seven innings on Friday at Farragut.  Riggs recorded the win for Riverdale. He allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered four hits.

Duncan Pence came on in relief of Ben Rutter, pitching the last 2 innings. Riverdale managed just one hit off of Pence, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his two innings of work.  Ben Rutter got the last 2 outs in the 5th, in relief of starter Carson Strickland.  Strickland battled hard, but took the loss. He allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.

Riverdale took the early lead on an RBI single by McCullough.  Riverdale tallied 5 more runs in the decisive 2nd inning.

After pushing across four runs in the bottom of the fifth, Farragut Admirals Varsity faced just a 6-4 deficit. A sacrifice fly by Chase Chambers and a three-run double by Nico Mascia sparked Farragut Admirals Varsity’s rally. Finally, Riggs got Chase Fullington to fly out to end the threat.

After scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh, on Nico Mascia’s RBI single, the Ads faced just a 6-5 deficit.  The Ads had the winning runs on base, but couldn’t pull out the comeback.
