In the Gulf Coast Classic Tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the Admirals grabbed an early lead on its way to a 7-3 victory over Tishomingo County on Tuesday. Farragut scored on a 2-run single by Parker Noland and an inside-the park homer by Zach Yunger in the first inning. The victory takes the Admirals to 3-0 on the young 2017 season.
Leading by only 1 run, 4-3, the Admirals added 3 big runs in the sixth inning, to salt away the win. Farragut’s big inning was driven by a double by Justen Freeman and a single by Carson Wright.
Ryan Hagenow earned the win, pitching for the Admirals in his inaugural varsity start. He tossed 4 innings, giving up 2 runs, 2 hits, and whiffed four Tishomingo batters. Brad Day closed out the game, pitching 3 innings, surrendering 1 earned run on 5 hits. Admiral pitchers challenged the Tishomingo batters, delivering 25 first-pitch strikes to 32 batters.
Farragut collected 10 hits to score their 7 runs. Wright, Freeman, Yunger, and Noland each collected two hits to lead Farragut.
