The Admirals fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 2-1 D4AAA loss to West on Monday. West took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. West pitchers struck out seven, while Farragut sat down three Rebel batters.

West took the early 1-0 lead on an errant pickoff throw to third, allowing Swanson to score, who had reached on a fly ball to left that was just out of the reach of Zach Yunger.

Adam Cupp earned the win for West. He went 7 innings, allowing 1 run, 6 hits, and striking out seven.  Ryan Hagenow took the loss for Farragut. He tossed 3.2 innings, allowing 2 runs, 3 hits, striking out 2, and walking one.  Brad Day pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits.

The Admirals collected six hits.  Cade BurkeyChandler Chambers, and Carson Wright each collected multiple hits.  Ashton King scored the lone Admiral run in the 4th, on Carson Wright’s RBI double.

The Admirals continue in D4AAA play on Tuesday with a 6:00 game scheduled against Lenoir City.  On Wednesday, the Admirals open their home slate with a 6:30 contest versus Hardin Valley.
