The Farragut JV Admirals started their 2018 campaign with a Tournament Championship and completed their season with a District 4AAA Tournament Championship.   The JV Ads swept through the tournament by defeating William Blount 18-1, Maryville 12-5, Bearden 13-2 (semi-finals) and Catholic 13-2 in the Championship Game.   This tournament was a perfect bookend to the beginning of the season which saw the JV Ads sweep through the pre-season tournament  with wins over Catholic 17-2, Knoxville West 15-2, Heritage 17-1, and Maryville 11-7.    The dominant runs through these tournaments served as a microcosm of the entire season which saw the Admirals finish with a 26-2 record.
The Admirals had a potent offense which ended the year with a team batting average of .346 and an on base percentage of .473, almost 1/3 of the teams’ hits were for extra bases.     The team averaged 10.44 runs per game, scoring over 10 runs in 15 of their 29 games and 14 of the games were shortened to five innings due to the 10 run mercy rule.  The Admiral pitching was just as dominant ending the year with a team ERA of 1.69,  holding their opponents to a batting average of .194 while averaging over 1.1 strike outs per inning.   The JV Ads ended the year allowing 2.2 runs per game.
This season shows the great potential in the 18  freshman and 10 sophomores who participated in the success the team enjoyed on the field.   These individuals took the challenge of working hard in the weight room, the batting cages and on the field and it  was encouraging to watch them grow in size, strength, and ability as they became a team.    The future is bright but it will be determined by their continued dedication in the weight room and on the field.    A handful of the JV Admirals will move on to the varsity this season during their tournament run.    For the rest, the 2019 season began as soon as the last out of the JV Championship Game ended.  See you in the weight room.
