It is time for our annual community service event with the Helen Ross McNabb Center.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Center they are a Not for Profit  Community Mental Health and Addictions Services Agency that provides services to over 10,000 Adults, Children and families here in Knoxville and the East Tennessee region, most of whom have no insurance nor ability to pay for treatment.

As many of you know who have participated in this event in the past it is a lot of fun and raises over $30,000 for the McNabb Center.

For those new to this event it is similar to skeet shooting except players shoot the clays on a course with 18 different stations. Teams of 5 shooters compete against each other. Each team has a volunteer scorer who scores hits and misses for each player on the team at each station so the scorer walks the course with their team. The baseball team volunteers to act as scorers and to assist with other duties at the site. This is a fun event! It is expected that everyone on the team participate in this event as it is one of our only opportunities to do community service as a team that doesn’t conflict with the baseball season. It is a great way for us to kick off the new school year!  Parents are more than welcome to volunteer with their child and are encouraged to do so.  The sign up information is listed below.

Parents can also form teams and compete in the Shoots if interested.

The event will be held at The Chilhowee Sportsmen’s Club in Maryville. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th .  All proceeds benefit The Helen Ross McNabb Center so you will be helping a great cause!!

The Chilhowee Sportsmen’s Club is located off of Hwy 129, (The tail of the dragon before it gets winding.) so it is a lot closer for most of us.

They will have two rounds of play and they will provide lunch for the boys who volunteer.  Volunteers will also get one of those famous volunteer T shirts. Volunteers will be needed in shifts as follows:

Saturday, August 11th 7:45 AM till 1:00 PM

12:30 Noon till 5:30 PM

Or all day

Please contact Vicki Catapano at Vicki.Catapano@mcnabb.org or call her at 329-9138 to sign up for your shift, she will then email you the permission form, directions and other information you will need for the event.
